Kim and Ron Brautigam have been Brevard County residents for almost 22 years. "Call Me Maggie Mae" is the second dog they have had during their eighteen-year marriage. After the death of their beloved fourteen year old Cocker Spaniel, whom they acquired as newlyweds, Kim and Ron took a year and a half break from dog ownership to do some traveling. Something seemed to be missing without a dog around the house,so they decided to look for a different type of dog they would not compare to the Cocker.
Their search led them to Call Me Farms in Parrish, Florida, where they found Maggie, the only smooth-coated Border Collie of her litter. Kim and Ron had thoroughly researched the breed, and were determined to provide the physical and mental activities necessary for a BC's temperment.Their neighbor introduced them to Mary Hartney, and Maggie began her flyball training along with several other dogs who also are now members of 321 Liftoff.
While she seldomly barks at home or otherwise, Maggie considers flyball events to be her license to really let loose. Her reputation as the biggest barker on the team has led us to refer to her as the "team cheerleader". Maggie also loves Frisbee, chasing balls, and herding up the neighbor-
hood kids. She also loves boating and fishing with her Mom and Dad,
and has been known to jump overboard to take a refreshing dip in the
river. Herding sheep is her newest activity, which is really a blast for her, and she shows great promise as a herder.
