Good Golly Miss Molly, FDCH
August 1996 - December 2003
Gloria  and  Ken lost Molly in December to a very serious illness that was not determined.  The Vet's and  Gloria  monitored Molly for four months trying to
determine  exactly what   Molly had but they were not able to do so. Molly is now showing all  the other dogs the sport of Flyball on the other side of . . . .                                                                                             Rainbow Bridge.
This is so hard . . . . . I have waited to start this page because I could not face  she was really gone but she is and we have to go on. Gloria and Molly helped Wendy and I to promote the sport of  Flyball  in the Brevard  area and one of
the original dogs that started the 321  Lift Off Flyball Racing Team.   Look  at the above picture and tell me who has the biggest smile.  .  The picture speaks for itself.                                       Mary K. Hartney, Captain/Co-Founder
We have a secret you and I . . . . . .

That no one else shall know.
For who but I can see you lie,
                               Each night, in fireglow?
And who but I can reach my hand
                               Before I go to bed.
And feel the living warmth of you
                               And touch your silken head?
And only I walk woodland Paths.
                               And see, ahead of me.
Your small form racing with the wind.
                               So young again, and free!
And only I can see you swim.
                               In every brook I pass . . .
And, when I call, no one but I
                               Can see the bending grass. . . . .

I will never forget the day I received a phone call  from Ms. Gunde at the local Humane Society.  She told me  there was a Border Collie  that had been there for awhile that no one had shown any interest in. Her time was running out, did I know of anyone . . . .yes.I knew someone. So strange, but somehow I knew this was to be Gloria's dog. We tried all afternoon to reach her. Amazingly that afternoon there were others that took an  interest in adopting her and I begged Ms.Gunde to wait til I found Gloria.    I did not  hear anymore til early evening, Gloria pulled up in my driveway.  She got out of her car with Molly, her words were  "I GOT HER."   She stood in my driveway,  Molly was worried,  Gloria was  worried but I knew right there and then that they were a team.  We  went out  together to teach  Molly hearing commands,  I really  remember  going  to
Wal  Mart and  alerting  Molly  to hearing  anyone  calling  Gloria's  name,  we  worked a  lot on  telephone alerts.  We had  many  happy  experiences,  many Border  Collie Parties,  two television  experiences,  one at  Universal Studios,
the other on location here on Merritt Island.  And then there was Flyball......... well,  how do you  describe a perfect  union  between handler and dog?   That was where the Gloria and Molly team was meant to be. Molly flew,Gloria flew with her every step of the way .   WE  all know the  last few months of Molly's life, the blood test, the x-rays, the various Veterinarian appointments. The hope that the wonderful care that Gloria and Ken gave to her would somehow make everything  better,  the  hope  that we  would see  Molly fly again,   effortlessly over the jumps . I knew that  Molly was not responding  to treatment, this was to be Molly's last day on earth. I knew that hanging in my garage was a bag of tennis  balls, a  week  before I had  to meant  to  give  them to Mary  for  team practice.   I  called  Gloria  to ask  her  if  she wanted me to be there,  she  re-sponded telling me that  I was  the one who  found  Molly  for her, she did not want  me to be  upset. How much more caring can a friend be? I remembered  the  bag  of  tennis  balls I  called  Mary  with my  thoughts, and she said to go ahead.  When  I got  to Gloria's  house  that  day,  Molly  was on the bed with  Gloria and Ken,  she was week,  but she knew me. I got out of my pocket the tennis ball. I had written on it  321 LIFT OFF, WE LOVE YOU MOLLY.  I gave it to her,  she grabbed it and held on to it.    The  veterinarian arrived, she talked to Ken and Gloria , I played with Molly and the tennis ball,  she did not let go of it. The injection was given, the tennis ball  remained in Molly's  mouth. She peacefully went to sleep, she  knew  we loved her, until  she drew  her last breath.   I know  the tennis  ball was sent to Molly with love at the next Flyball Tournament, the dogs all carried it in her memory. What else can I say?   Why are young lives cut short? Why do wonderful friends like Gloria  have to suffer. I have no answers.   As we are all friends of Molly and Gloria, all we can do is show the love we have for them both.   Molly  we will never forget  you, every tennis ball is sent for you.   Gloria,  we love you, our hearts are broken for you, but please  know  that  we will do all we can to help you smile again.
Always,                                                      Wendy Keighley - Co-Founder
Just seeing Gloria's  eyes light up when her  Molly would  come to her after a Flyball run was special.    Gloria's smile was always from ear to ear with love for her wonderful girl.    Molly always greeted Gloria's friends with a kiss and a tail wag.   Molly always had a special place in Kim's and my heart, we miss her and will never forget her.    Ron and Kim Brautigam - Team Members
Cody and I were charter  members of the 321  Flyball team along with Gloria and Molly.   Their passion and  enthusiasm for the sport  was a role model for me.   Gloria, your courage, kindness towards all, encouragement for everyone of your team mates,  your energy and dedication  to the team is an  inspiration. You and Molly  were a team to behold ..........  I loved watching you together. You both are very special and we will remember you always.

This is one of my favorite quotes:    "If there are no dogs in heaven . . . I want to go where they did."                                 Susan Marx - Team Member
Whenever I think of the ideal Flyball Dog, I always picture Molly.  Seeing her at the instant of release will be forever etched in my memory.   She and Gloria were responsible for Sandy and me joining 321 Lift Off,  and the two of them will always represent the level to which we aspire.

Although  I only knew Molly for a short time,  she left a wonderful impression on me.  The closeness you both shared was very evident and she was a beau-tiful and friendly dog. We all lose our beloved animals and weep for them, but just remember the joy and companionship they gave us are memories to cher-ish always                                                 Barbara Boka - Team Member
